Ransomware also known as Ransom Malware is a type of malware that prevents users from accessing their system or personal files and demands ransom payment in order to regain access. Ransomware authors order that payment be sent via cryptocurrency or credit card.

The hackers will then demand a ransom and threaten to gradually lock out more groups of files if they don’t receive a payment.
