What is Ransomware?

Ransomware also known as  Ransom Malware is a type of malware that prevents users from accessing their system or personal files and demands ransom payment in order to regain access. Ransomware authors order that payment be sent via cryptocurrency or credit card.

If infected companies can expect to experience standard ransomware attacks, but many will also encounter modified ransomware attacks where the cyber-criminal will lock out only a subset of files. The hackers will then demand a ransom and threaten to gradually lock out more groups of files if they don’t receive a payment.
